On today’s Valentine’s day, Sierra Leone Polio Football Club (SLPFA) will play Central Base Journalists-Sierra Leone (CBJ-SL) in a friendly encounter.
CBJ-SL team comprises a consortium of journalists from various mainstream media institutions and social media platforms.
They are set to play a tough friendly football match against the Sierra Leone Polio Football Club on Valentine’s Day. The match will serve as a way of raising awareness on disabilities, drugs abuse, and women and girls’ general wellbeing and other related issues.
Speaking to the Chief Executive Officer who also serves as the Technical Coach for the Sierra Leone Polio Football Club, Lamin Vidal Koroma aka Network General, he said the aim of the friendly meeting is organize to create a common ground with the media to work as a team to promote disability issues.
Mr. Koroma said this particular fixture will not only serve as a football friendly encounter but will also serve as an example so that others will join the fight in advocating for better conditions of services for People Living with Disabilities (PWDs).
He vowed to use the occasion in order to extend his thanks and appreciations to donor partners and team from Denmark and assured the CBJ-SL delegation of a safe trip marked with good moments of laughter with the opportunity to make new friends.
“The Sierra Leone Polio Football Club comprises both Amputees, Polio ,able and the semi Polios.”
The team is currently hosting half of the Sierra Leone National Amputee Football Team including the likes of the goal Keeper, Alie Badara Kamara, Gbassay Koroma from Turkey Amputee Premier League, Sam Pessima, Umari Kamara aka LA among others.
The game will be purely for semi Polio and few able players,” Coach Vidal Revealed said.
The Managing Proprietor of Hot Newspaper, Fatorma called on all CBJ-SL members to honor the football fixture to be part of this history making in advocating for PWDs.
He expressed optimism that CBJ-SL will surely defeat the Sierra Leone Polio Football Club by a 4:2 aggregate to cliche the trophy.
