Those who know Bra Parrot very well could attest to the fact that the he is not only one of the oldest but the wisest, visionary and a responsible citizen of all creatures in this kingdom.
He has followed with keen interest all the developments happening in the Republic and sometimes he gives salient advice to previous as well as current leaders of this Kingdom.
He is also known for his retentive memory and which is why all other creatures are referring to him as a great historian.
Bra Parrot has the ability to recall what some people in high places have said about others. And could remember the sayings of those who have promised to provide for the people but have forgotten.
The oldest creature is not a sorcerer, but he foretells what the future holds.
He is used to prophesy things before they happen.
Since the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) came to power in 2018, the clever bird has been following events and activities within the corridors of the Honorable House of Parliament in this kingdom.
If, and only if the creatures in this tiny Republic called Sierra Leone are honest and sincere with themselves, they would agree with the wisest bird that all the bad and ugly things were happening in that important House under the leadership of the former Speaker, and most of them were deliberate and against the opposition and certain individuals.
Some of his elderly colleagues who know him well know that, Bra Parrot, because of his acclaimed reputation, always calls things by their correct names and does not take sides.
To prove his powerful mental recollection, the Wise Bird will try to give some historical sachets if not all about some of the good and bad things that took place in Parliament after the 2018 general elections to date.
To start with, after the 2018 general elections when SLPP took over power, the election of Speaker was very much problematic, controversial and faulty at the time; everything that was done, was to the advantage of the ruling party under his watch (the Speaker).
Coming to the Commission of Inquiry (CIO) that was set-up by government; it was also allegedly faulty based on the method of its formation.
The mid-term Census was also forcefully introduced to the people of this country under his watch, the state of emergency is nothing to write home about, and it was alleged that, there were no regulations at the time. And that was the time the former Speaker said these words that, ‘what goes around comes around’ and that the state of emergency will be matured by mid-night to night according to him.
Today, what goes around has come around, when will the speaker’s letter of resignation mature?
There was a fight in Parliament by members; it was only members of the opposition who were penalized under the watch of the former Speaker. Can you imagine, Dr. Abass Bundu, was very much one sided at the time.
All the good and bad bills passed in Parliament at the time were under the watch of Dr. Abass Bundu.
The question the people of Sierra Leone are asking is that, was the former Speaker jumped on his own or he was pushed to go?
The Wise Bird has been saying that no condition is permanent under the sun; this is a clear lesson for those in power; when someone is in power there are two things involved either you are sacked or you resign. So plus minus, no condition or nothing last forever.
The Wise Bird could remember that not too long ago, another senior member of the SLPP resigned his position and that speaks volume to the party.
The brave bird is of the view that the former Speaker’s action towards the opposition at the time was tantamount to not having an opposition in Parliament at the time of his Speakership.
A good word at the time, ‘what goes around comes around’ – those words did not go down well with some party members, but it was the reality.
In all Parliamentary proceedings, the former speaker used to say, Order! Order! to members of Parliament in a very old voice, did the order hold at the time?
The Wise bird only hopes that the new speaker will be very neutral in doing things in Parliament this time.
However, the Wise Bird is not saying the former Speaker was not neutral but has his reservation on this.
The opposition is part of the development of the country.
