Some people do not love the Wise Bird because he is very quick to see things and call them by their correct names, at least, he does that for those who do not understand to properly understand and know how they look like and which name they carry.
The Wise Bird has been following the political trend in the country, and came to the realization that out of the ten (10) plus registered political parties that took part in the June 24, 2023 general election only one(1) apart from the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) one can only hear of one which is the Main Opposition APC which is in existence.
The others are either dead or they are in coma waiting for political activities for them to be awake and be funded by the current government or the International Community by way of building democracy.
The Wise Bird is not as hypocritical as other birds that do not look at people to their faces and tell them the hard fact to their faces.
What the most respected bird has noticed is that, political parties are formed to amass wealth over night at the detriment of other people; political parties are not formed these days to win an election but simply to make money.
The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) should institute stringent measures by way of qualification for anybody or group of people wanting to form a political party(s).
The Wise Bird is very mindful of the fact that, the 1991 Constitution makes provision for freedom of association and assembly, but the Commission also has the right to lay down conditions that all political parties should adhere to in the best interest of democratic principles.
The Wise Bird is of the view that the formation of new political parties are some of the problems in the political dispensation today in the country, taking into consideration the country in which the people live which is coupled with the present hardship in the country, and people are easily bought over night because of poverty.
But if there are very strong laws to be fulfilled before a political party is formed, it will be fine and good in the best interest of democracy in the country.
The Wise Bird only hopes that the Constitutional Review Commission will look into that aspect of registration of new political parties and its implications.
The Wise Bird has noticed that since the political tension in the country, after the June 24, 2023 no other political party(s) has ever put out a statement by way of condemning the outcome of the result, and the bird stands to be corrected; the parties are not speaking with one voice, and that is more the reason the ruling party is taking advantage over the situation.
Let think for a moment that, a political party contested an election and did not win; it is but fitting that, that party must make itself available to the people at all times, and by so doing the party will have an advantage for the next election but it is not so in Sierra Leone.
In other countries all registered political parties may team-up against a ruling party by way of subjecting them to be accountable.
But in Sierra Leone that is not the case; a single party is left alone to fight its case at the detriment of democracy. How can democracy flourish in this manner, when it is John, it is John alone and Mary will not come to its aid?
The Wise Bird could class some of the political parties are money finders; (dregg-men); they are here to amass wealth and nothing more than that.
The Wise Bird will more than happy if the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) will institute more stringent measures before any new party is registered and even the old ones.
