One of the exuberant young people aspiring for the National Deputy Youth Leader in the governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is Foday M. Wangay, also known as Jambo, whose numerous achievements and collaboration within the party have been recognized by most party stalwarts and supporters, especially in the Northern Region where his popularity has grown like a wild fire in a harmattan bush.

In the entire Northern Region, Jambo is not only popular among the youths, but also among the elders who admire him for his mobilization drive that has brought onboard many young people who were members of other political parties in that region.

Quite apart from mobilizing the youth to support and believe in the philosophy of the ruling SLPP, Jambo has also helped hundreds of young people by creating jobs for them in his security company. Many party youths are gainfully employed in the security company thereby lessening the burden of job creation by the ruling party through the government. He is not only a man with integrity, he is also very respectful, humble and humane. Jambo is a charismatic and selfless youth who is always ready to work for the party with assiduity and selflessness.

Besides, Jambo is a renowned political mixer and has very good interpersonal relationships with stalwarts in the hierarchy of the SLPP, including His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, members of the National Executive Council (NEC), and many others who see him as one of the future leaders of the SLPP.

Jambo is aspiring for the National Deputy Youth Leader for not only the leadership qualities he possesses, but also for a regional balance, given that most of the aspirants are from the Southeast who would not have the ability to mobilise support from the Northern Region for obvious reasons. He believes that with him as the National Deputy Youth Leader, he would be able to mobilise the Northern youths to support the SLPP in the 2028 national elections.

Many party youths who spoke to this medium regarding the candidacy of Jambo for the SLPP National Deputy Youth Leader described the aspirant as someone with many qualities who has made several sacrifices for party and should therefore be considered for the coveted position. They therefore urged the youths of SLPP to elect Jambo as the next National Deputy Youth Leader in order to make the 2028 campaign easier for the party in the Northern Region.
