The Tripartite committee was set up primarily to look into the alleged irregularities that took place before, during and after the 2023 general elections.

The bird has been following the activities of the implementation committee of the recommendations of the tripartite.

The bird of late has noticed that the implementation process is at a very slow pace as expected by the general public. Many a time meetings to push the process are allegedly not held.

Very recently, the bird was reliably informed that a consultative meeting was to be held with members of parliament and members of the tripartite committee to meet in Committee room in Parliament Building to discuss part if not all of the tripartite recommendations.

According to the report, key among them is recommendation 78, which talked about agreement for national unity.

Report reaching the bird states that the Clerk of Parliament has issued a notice for the cancellation of the consultative meeting until further notice.

What has beaten the imagination of Hon. Members of Parliament though is that, the meeting was cancelled hours before it commencement at the time when the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice was set to formally present the recommendations to Members of Parliament.

Recommendation 78 is very key, given that it talked about national dialogue, the type of election system to be adopted for Parliament and Local Councils between the district Proportional Representation system and first past the post system.

However, the unexpected cancellation of the meeting just few hours before the time for deliberation has sparked debates, speculations and very serious concerns among the people of Sierra Leone, political observers and even the international partners.

The question the wise bird would like to ask is what actually prompted the automatic change for the tripartite discussion? For the bird to get a balance story, he goes out to get the views of political observers when it comes to polities and other issues.

The people consider the cancellation as unfortunate and will send wrong signal for the Bio’s administration.

Other people stated that the decision is for government to buy time as elections are just around the corner.

This situation has left people to wonder whether the implementation process will go on according to plans.
