Hon Osman Timbo on Thursday 1st May 2025 informed members of the All People’s Congress party and Sierra Leoneans that God [in Heaven ] “will not answer our prayers if we are not sincere.”
He calls the situation in Sierra Leone as worrying as he revealed that bribery and corruption have become fashionable in every sphere of “our lives.” s
It seems that, he said, our leaders have become numb to this reality.
Hon Timbo made the Submissions during the declaration for the flagship of the APC at the Brookfields Hotel in Freetown.
He lamented that “What is worse is to see the disunity and dishonesty within the political party that one gave birth to.
A disunity and dishonesty that is eating deep into the flesh of the party.
And, he went on, it is undermining our ability to effectively operate as a responsible and responsive opposition party ready to take governance and address the issues mentioned above.”
“Dear President Siaka Stevens, people in our party have put personal interests over the interest of the nation and the party. They were acting as if the APC belonged to them, forgetting that they were only beneficiaries of the beautiful structure they all fought hard to put together and nurture.” Now, ‘mami cos’, ‘laybellehism’, ‘godfatherism’, character assassination, ‘ker go bring cam’, ‘sell game’, ‘hypocrisy’, backbiting, talk about, are the order of the day in the party.”
He cited that every day when party leaders and members make public statements, they talk about the need to uniting the party, but they fail to talk about the real causes to the disunity.
He emphasized that the options left for the party is to organizing retreats and prayer sessions. He said there can be no unity if the APCs are not honest to themselves.
He said for unity to prevail leaders, at all levels, should put aside their egos and personal grudges.
“There can be no unity, if our leaders at all levels, do not tell the truth, the whole truth out to the public.”
There can be no forgiveness and reconciliation if all we do is to always make sweet public utterances and act otherwise in private quarters,” he remarked.
He said there can be no unity when the general membership and supporters believe more what bloggers tell them, rather than listening to what comes out from the official channels of the party.
“How can they know more than the people who were inside the room. I will however not blame the ordinary people for this, because there is no official news that will counter the available rumors which sets the news agenda, ” he revealed.
At this point, he also addressed the biggest split within the party; the issue of Electoral Justice, so-called, and the June 2023 elections cycle.
Hon Timbo commended Dr. Samura Kamara for leading the party through a very difficult electoral cycle, against all odds.
He said for the ruling government, 2023 election was a do or die affair, adding that their campaign was extensive and aggressive.
The flagbear of the ruling government waa criss-crossing every district in this nation using state resources while splashing cash to people.
