Humunatu Agnes Gbla, a 33-year-old businesswoman, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 on Thursday, September 12, 2024, facing three charges: causing grievous bodily harm with intent, wounding, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The prosecution alleges that on August 7, 2024, at Parsonage Street, Kissy, Western Area, Freetown, Gbla intentionally inflicted grievous bodily harm on Ibrahim Habib Tarawalie. She is also accused of malicious wounding and assaulting him, causing serious injuries.
During court proceedings, defense counsel Coker presented their final witness, Aminata Sidinatu Koroma, a businesswoman who identified herself as the accused’s cousin but stated that she did not know the complainant.
Koroma testified that on September 12, 2024, she received a call from her aunt asking for her whereabouts. Following their conversation, she was instructed to meet at Shell, but upon arrival, she did not find either the accused or the complainant. Instead, she learned that Gbla was with the community chief.
She then proceeded to the chief’s location, where Humunatu Gbla asked her to accompany her to Shell Police Station. Upon arrival at the station, she saw the complainant, and shortly after, the accused was placed behind bars.
During cross-examination, Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Lahai M. asked whether she knew what had transpired between the accused and the complainant. She responded, “Yes.”
The case has been adjourned to March 17th, 2025 for further proceedings.
