The Chief Executive Officer of the SWAKAB charitable organization, a women’s led initiative has appealed to the First Lady Dr. Fatima Jabbie Bio for help.
The more than seventy widows, single parents and less privileged women engagement was held recently at the precincts of SWAKAB women College at Fana Street, east end of Freetown.
Addressing the dozens of women at the Fana community, Devil Hole, the Chief Executive Officer of SWAKAB charitable organization, Nurse Isata SWAKAB, informed that her organization has been working with women of various categories, including widows, single parents and less privileged.
She said they are currently embarking on soap making, gara-tie dying, nursing among others.
She noted that key among the reason she decided to form the organization, is because women are suffering but with this organization they can be able to fend for themselves without relying on men.
She called on Her Excellency Dr. Fatima Jabbie Bio, to come to their aid, underscoring that there is great potential in the women, she has in her organization if given the opportunity.
She vowed to interface with parents whose children have been consumed by Kush and other dangerous drugs in the community.
She also maintained that her organization is planning to engage those boys that are taking drugs to sensitize them on the dangers of drugs.
Principal of SWAKAB college, Mr. Amadu encouraged women to take the organization seriously.
He called on them to unite for a common goal, as according to him women are vulnerable, especially the widows and single parents.
Pledging his support to the organization, the Devil Hole Deputy Headman, Mohamed Borbor Bah, said they welcome such women’s organization in their community.
He said they are ready to give their unflinching support to the organization and that they should not hesitate to call on them for help.
Principal of SWAKAB college Mr. Amadu pledged his support to the organization, stating that “I will volunteer to do all your write ups, project writings and any other official documentation”.
Other speakers who made contribution during the meeting are, the Secretary General of SEAKAB, Abdul Akim Noah, the Treasurer, PRO and other executive members of the organizations.
