The Games and Athletics Teachers’ Association (GATA) has secured a one week standard training in Kailahun district.
The association was established to co-ordinate and officiate all sporting (athletic soccer and other games) in the district.
According to GATA’s chairman, Coomber Jusu Lansana, the training was geared towards updating and orienting their members to maintain professionalism in the game.
Mr Lansana said the association which has been established over ten years has been in cordial relationships with the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education in the district. Chairman Lansana added that due to the hard work of the association, Kailahun district had been represented in both regional and national athletics competitions and had made significant progresses in the said tournaments.
The week-long training captured the attention of physical health education (PHE) teachers from different schools in the Kailahun municipality.
Chairman Coomber Jusu Lansana underscored the tremendous’ contributions and sacrifices they have poured into the association to help building the sportsmanship of the pupils across the district.
He stressed on the impact and the unity of sport, noting that the various aspects of life that are influenced by physical activities (soccer and athletics) include spiritual, mental, social, and physical.
He, however; re-assured fans that through the interventions of the association; sports in general will be upgraded as a top-most priority and it will take a new phase in Kailahun district in spite of the financial crisis ravaging the country.
