One of the fastest growing football academies in the Lungi, Port Loko District, Mikel Freeman Soccer Academy (MFSA) over the years has embarked on youth soccer in a bid to promote talents of promising players in the country.
Speaking to the Sporting Director, George Freeman, he revealed to Africa24 sports that the institution was established in 2022 within the municipality of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom.
“Our dream for this year is to organize a community gala, we are expecting sixteen communities, and we have registered with the Lungi Football Association (LFA), the umbrella body for soccer in the Chiefdom.” He said.
However, the upcoming NLe 50,000.00 gala tournament will be hosted at the Marah playing field, adding that the competition is in collaboration with Culture farm in Freetown.
George Freeman says the tournament will commence in September 2023, even though there are endless challenges.
According to Mohamed Dumbuya, player for Lungi Ranger FC, he expressed delight for the forthcoming tournament in Lungi because football is their career at the moment.
