21-year-old Salifu Kamara, a masoner, 22 year-old Abdulai Kamara, 16 year- old Dauda Suma and 48-year-old Vitalis Ubawuchi made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown.
They stood on two count charges to wit store breaking and larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on a date between December 2023 to March 2024 at #4 Deen Sankoh was driving Angola Town, Western Rural in Freetown with intent to steal, break and enter into the store of Solomon Baimba Mansaray to steal therein one sixty horse power out board machine, three twenty five power out board machines and other assorted items equivalent to the total sum of one million nine hundred and fifty six thousand one hundred and ten Leones(1,956,110) as property of Solomon Baimba Mansaray. On count two the fourth accused person on the above date and place did receive fifteen out board machines and 9f value, property of Solomon Baimba Mansaray knowing same to stolen items.
When the charges was read and explained to the accused person no plea taken.
The prosecutor Ibrahim S Mansaray sought for a short adjournment date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Counsel representing the accused person Charles Israel Williams applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that he is a Sierra Leonean, and resident within this jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf; he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will he jumps bail.
He made his application pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the 1st, 2nd and 4th accused person to the male correctional facility whilst the Juvenile to be taken to Dems matter adjourned to the 10th May 2024.
