The Teaching Service Commission (TSC) has started the first teacher license examination in the Commission’s district offices nationwide.
In a press release issued over the weekend, the Commission said the purpose of the examination is to create a new approach for the enlisting or recruiting of new teachers into the teaching service.
The Commission’s response comes amidst numerous concerns and fears about the mode of teacher registration and examination that is conducted online only, adding that the exams will now be conducted physically by the teachers themselves to avoid any future concerns the process of recruiting public teachers for the government.
Records revealed that the Commission has received over five thousand (5,000) applications for this examination, and that two thousand five hundred and twenty seven (2,527) applications have been approved to go ahead with the exams.
According to the director of registration and Licensing at the TSC, this maiden edition of the exam is a success as it accounts for 84.2% of the targeted number of three thousand (3,000).
He further stated that one thousand nine hundred and fifty Seven (1,957) teachers who have already booked to write the teacher license examinations have started the process across the country. He said the examinations will end on Sunday 4th February 2024. The TSC administration has revealed that bookings are in progress in all TSC’s district offices across the country and teachers who have received approval should proceed to book for the exams.
