As the general public is very much interested to know the outcome of the Audit Report of-2022, the bird follows up on the issue in order to be able to help hold those in authority accountable.
The wise bird has been very busy in turning over the pages of the Audit Report of 2022 so that he better understands the issues properly before he could inform the people the brave bird is representing.
The patriotic, fearless and uncompromising bird always stands for the truth as he gives correct and accurate information to the people.
Bra Parrot was very quick to turn to page 295 of the Audit Report, under the caption titled ‘MINISTRY OF LANDS HOUSING AND COUNTRY PLANING (HQ)-2022’.
The wise bird saw another sub-caption titled ‘REVENUE COLLECTED NOT PAID TO THE CONSOLIDATED FUND’.
According to the report, section 44(1) of the PFMRs of 2018 requested that, all public monies, including but not limited to tax and deposit of non-tax revenue shall be paid into the consolidated revenue fund, unless otherwise provided by an Act of Parliament, the report says.
The wise bird further noticed that lands lease rentals, sale of lands (freehold), amounting to SLE 461,100 and US$ 50,000 which were not paid into the consolidated revenue fund.
The brave Bra Parrot also turned to page 297 of the report and saw another sub-heading which says, ‘salary paid to staff not available for verification’.
According to the report, 17 staff on the Ministry’s payroll was neither on the staff list nor were they available for verification and the total salaries paid to those staff for FY 2022 amounted to SLE 1, 091, 976.
The report further states that out of 177 personnel who were requested for verification 34 did not avail themselves for verification.
The wise bird also noticed that the salaries paid to those unverified staff for the FY 2022 amounted to SLE 305, 667.96.
The brave Bra Parrot, based on the above facts, will now say without hesitation that the Ministry is still having ghost workers chewing out our state money at the detriment of the nation.
