Bra Parrot, the most wisest and elderly citizen in this Republic is in the habit of hovering low over the capital, Freetown to get accurate, correct and first-hand information bothering on national and International issues.
Recently, the most trusted and concerned statesman saw the public notice the Ministry of Transport and Aviation put out in respect of the new traffic arrangement in the Central Business District (CBD).
After a careful look at the notice, as usual, the wise bird flew out in anticipation to sound the views of people including traffic police officers to get their opinion on the issue whether it is in their advantage or not.
There were mixed feelings on the issue 5% of those contacted are in support of the new arrangement where as 95% including traffic police officers are strongly against what they called ‘ugly arrangements.’
So in essence, all those contacted including traffic police officers expressed similar sentiments about the negative arrangement they called it.
From what Bra Parrot has however gathered is that, the most affected of the public is the traffic police division, who allegedly claiming not to have been consulted on the issue by the Ministry, insisting it was a unilateral decision.
Some traffic police officers were not happy whilst complaining bitterly to the wise bird. But they were making sad mistake because they never knew they were talking the brave and patriotic bird.
Some of them were saying that their points of bookings have been reduced.
Dem bobor yah feel say pepul dem fool or dem go take we for a fool’s ride!
Meanwhile, Bra Parrot tried very hard to get on to the head of traffic western area but to no avail.
In the same angle, poda-poda, kekeh and okada riders are also not happy with the new system, because they feel that Ministry has created more traffic congestion in both the eastern and western part of the city, as old road is now in full operation.
To avoid future unnecessary argument or condemnation by the public, it’s but fitting that whenever the ministry wants to take any decision pertaining to traffic, the traffic division should be consulted.
However, if the traffic division was not consulted as alleged, it was wrong and still wrong.
A word for the wise is quite sufficient!
