Sergeant 12186 Alusine Folarin on Wednesday 8th may 2024 had tendered in court before magistrate Bangura of Pademba road court No2 tendered charge statement from Ali Jaffal.
The accused made his sixth appearance in court and he was arraigned on six counts charges of Possession of arms without license, possession of ammunition without license, having in control of small arms without license and other related offences — all contrary to the ;was of Sierra Leone.
According to the indictments, the accused on the 6th April 2024, at Young Sports Club (YSC) facility at Wilkinson road Freetown was found in possession of one Makarov pistol without license.
The police further alleged that the accused on the same date and place was found in possession of six 9*19 milimeter without license.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty.
The State Counsel Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq Led prosecution witness number three Sergeant 12186 Alusine Folarin attached to the foreign national unit at the Criminal Investigation Department CID headquarters Pademba Road in Freetown.
He said e recognise the accused person in the dock on the 6th April 2024 whilst on duty a case of unlawful possession, concealment and other related offences assigned to him by Inspector F.J Musa for investigation.
And during the cause, he received the pistol, flash drive containing a video footage of the accused person statement.
On the 8th April 2024 a request of Ballistic examination and report of pistol with serial number NM35A808 and six lives rounds of ammunition.
On the 9th April 2024, he received a reply from the Ballistic department and he reported that and the response from the Ballistic department was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
On the same date a request was made to the Sierra Leone Commission of Small Arms and Ammunitions at State Avenue(SLaAm) in respect of the under mentioned fire Arms on the same date a reply was sent from SLaAm and the said request and reply was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records on the 10th April 2024 he made a request to the cyber unit through the line manager to examine and made a report on the said video footage.
On the 12th April 2024 he receive the reply from the Cyber Unit the request and reply was produce and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
On the 12th April himself together with DPC 18701 Conteh H obtained voluntary caution statement from the accused person in Krio language which was recorded in English language which he admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand thumbprint witness by Dpc 14701 Conteh H.
And he signed as the recorder the voluntary caution statement of the accused person was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records as exhibit J1-6 while on the same date he himself together with Inspector F.J Moosa charged the accused person in the dock with the offence of possession fire arms without license, unlawful possession of fire arms, possession of ammunition without license, having in control of small arms without license, unlawful concealment of arms and keeping greater number of small arms without license and the accused person was cautioned and questioned in Krio language which was recorded in English language at the conclusion of the charge statement it was read over and explained to the accused person in Krio language which he admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand thumbprint witness by Inspector F.J Moosa.
ANd he signed as the recorder the charge statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
The defense counsel J.J Vandy differed cross examination on the next adjourned date.
He therefore renewed and adopted his previous Bail applications.
Responding to the bench, the state counsel told the bench that he is apt minded to give bail.
The accused person must submitted his travel documents and the sureties must be around the Western Area in Freetown.
Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura in the sum of two hundred thousand Leones with three sureties in like sum one surety must be a business company newly registered in Sierra Leone, and two sureties must be a property owners while the accused must submit all his documents to the Master and Registrar of the High Court of Sierra Leone bail to be approved by the Master and Registrar
The matter adjourned to the 14th May 2024.
