The tentative head coach of the Leone Stars, Ahmed Karim, has brought an amusing football experience to his position over the years.
His career incorporates both playing and coaching, rendering him a valuable benefit to the national team, the remarkable football voyage certainly changes the complexity of his dream.
Amidu Karim represented Sierra Leone in the national U-17, U-20 and U-23 teams in the past. He was then called up to the Sierra Leone senior national team in 1989 and made his first debut against Cameroon in 1990.
In 1994 he won the Zone-2 Championship with a historical landmark. While, in 1994 to 1996, he joined the Sierra Leone squad for African Cup of Nations.
He Played for Suez FC, ENPPI FC and Shibin El Kom FC all in Egypt.
He started his coaching career with FC Kallon for 11 years.
And later was called as the assistant coach of Sierra
Leone senior team 2017 -2023.
He became the Head Coach of Sierra Leone U-23 team junior team in 2021-2022.
He was the deputy coach one to the former head coach, John Keister, for Sierra Leone national men’s squad during the AFCON 2021 in Cameroon. As a qualified license A CAF coach, he was fortunate to win one international FIFA friendly match against Somalia in a 2-0 sport and drawn one all against Benin despite his massive critics ranging from football pundits and supporters across the country.
