Twenty-five years-old Maada Frank Walker unemployed made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on a count of Fraudulent conversion Contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv) (b) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence sometime in March 2024 at Back Street the western area in Freetown Fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is to say one Samsung note 10 mobile phone valued thirty thousand Leones(30,000) entrusted to him by Abubakar Napolion Sankoh for the purpose of repair.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person No plea taken.
The prosecutor Deputy Superintendent of police Sorie Conteh lead Prosecution witness number one Abubakar Napoleon Sankoh, a business man and he said he knew the accused person in the dock as a mobile phone mechanic.
He recalls sometime in March 2024 something transferred between herself and the accused person and he called and asked the accused person to come and repair his Samsung note 10plus mobile phone.
He gave the accused person the said phone and he took it away and later told him that the phone has been repaired and the accused said he should pay him three hundred and fifty Leones as repair fee.
The witness said he gave him the said repair fee and after some time the accused person called him and told him that someone had offered to buy the phone.
He told him that he was not going home since then he couldn’t get the accused person and he reported the matter to the central police station. After two months he saw the accused person at the Victoria Park and he later made statement to the police.
The witness was cross-examined by F. Martin and he applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person and that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction and that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into agreement on his behalf. He will not interfere with the prosecution witness or witnesses nor will he jump bail. He made his application as pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura granted the accused person bail in the sum of thirty thousand Leones with two sureties in like sum sureties to be resident in Freetown and bail is to be approved by the court while the matter was adjourned till 20th June 2024.
