The wise bird is very much concerned on a daily basis over the appointments made by President Bio of people with senior positions, by way of compensation, to serve in government offices.
Say what you may, all those or rather these appointments made by the President are at the detriment of the economy and by extension the people of Sierra Leone, because all appointments go with heavy salaries, transport allowances, rent allowances, and fuel all at the expense of the State.
Bra Parrot can comfortably say without hesitation that, the government of President Maada Bio cannot control the prices of essential commodities to the expectation of the people who voted for him for a change but yet he still continues to make un-necessary appointments thereby crippling the already battered economy.
His government is having a field day in doing things without due consideration of the people they claimed to be governing.
The wise bird is not in any way against the appointments of anybody, but in the same token, before any appointment is made, the President must first of all think about the present economic situation in the country and the people of Sierra Leone as his priority.
If President Maada Bio cannot handle the immediate problems associated with the lives of the people that is, power supply (electricity), control the prices of essential commodities and water supply what else can the President do for his people?
Sometimes, the wise bird wants to express sympathy for the President by extension the government since it has lots of issues on its table to attend to but, however, taking into consideration the appointments the President is making of recent, the president deserves no sympathy.
To the bird, Mr President is just creating jobs for the boys/girls in his party in fulfillment of the promises he had made to them during campaign time.
Bra Parrot is of the view that, all the appointments made by President Bio are mostly duplicated positions, duplicated Ministries and Ministers doing the same work at the same time.
Bra Parrot is in no way making a case for these people Mr. President is appointing but just that, the wise bird is thinking aloud for the government to take caution in doing things. Because day-in-day-out new appointments coupled with new positions are created by the President.
Some people will argue that it is the president’s Constitutional right; I agree, surely, it is but will his Constitutional right supersede the welfare of the people? What quickly comes to mind to any considerate leader is the welfare of the majority of the people and this is very paramount for every sitting government.
During the days of the APC, people used to say ‘na road we dae eat’ ‘na light we dae eat’ because the ex-president was building more roads, but today what do the people say they are eating?
Because there are hardly no construction of roads, no frequent light, no water supply and in the absent of all these key State provisions, additionally, the people are suffering because the economy is not in good shape; cries of hardship are all over the country.
The creation of more offices and the appointments of more people in high positions have completely crippled the economy in totality because of higher pay and allowances which are eminent for government appointees.
Most of the appointments made by the President are mostly not necessary; they are seen to be at the detriment of the people of Sierra Leone and the country in particular, to say the least.
