The Chairman for the Political Party Regulation Commission, Abdulai Masianday Bangura Esq. has admonished all political parties to maintain peace, order and be law abiding during rally and campaign period ahead of the polling day throughout the entire country.
Speaking on Democracy Radio 98.1, Lawyer Bangura called on all political parties to showcase high level of political tolerance and give unrestricted access to all political parties in all communities, adding that political parties should promote a peaceful and serene campaign environment.
He continued that such criteria are recommendable for the conduct of a free, fair, credible and transparent three-tier election.
PPRC Chair stressed on the importance of mutual respect between the electorates and politicians towards paving a clear path for a peaceful co-existence between and among Sierra Leoneans.
Mr. Bangura urged for continuous engagement and dialogue on trending issues relating to the campaign trial, adding that all political parties, supporters and independent candidates should treat one another with mutual respect in a bid to foster a peaceful electoral environment. He noted that proactive approach will effectively enhance a positive relationship between political parties in enhancing a coordinated and transparent electoral process.
In conclusion, Chairman Bangura assured the public that campaigns have so far been peaceful while he made emphasis for more room of improvement and vowed to guide the electoral process by addressing any challenge that springs up.
