Thirty-years-old, Samuel Caulker, a mechanic made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
He is also and owner of View Club in Sierra Leone.
He was held on three count charges two ranging from obtaining money by false pretenses contrary to Section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and malicious damage contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence on a date between October to November 2023 in Freetown, the suspect maliciously damaged a side mirror of one sport edition with registration number CAB 416 valued at eight hundred and fifty dollars and is equivalent to nineteen thousand nine hundred and seventy seven Leones (19,977) as property of one Charles Abass Bangura. On count two, on the above date, the accused was held up for with intent to defraud by obtaining the sum of nine thousand Leones(9,000) from one Charles Abass Bangura on the pretext to repair the faulty steering of a Toyota 4runner Jeep with registration number AUN 929.
On count three, on the above date, the accused person was held for similarly with intent to defraud by obtaining from Charles Abass Bangura the sum of two thousand five hundred Leones (2,500) with the pretext to repair a sensor problem on his Benz C300 with the vehicle’s registration number ARK 512 but knowing the same to be false.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, the accused pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused person A.D Archato renewed his previous Bail applications on behalf of his client.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura granted the accused person bail with the sum of fifty thousand Leones with one surety in like sum with the surety to produce a recent NCRA identity card before a bail is to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned till 20th March 2024 for a further hearing.
