The paramount chief in Falaba district, Hon PCMP Tongos, has stated that his people are very disappointed over the poor development of their land.
He made the disclosure on Thursday 24th March 2024 in parliament when a director general for the state broadcaster, SLBC, appeared before the well to be approved.
During the session, the MP said his district, Falaba, hasn’t a SLBC radio station.
Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service is the nation’s public broadcaster.
Falaba district, he said, now falls under southwest not in north region anymore.
PC Tongos underscored the fact that his district has never got an indigene who has been appointed as a minister or an ambassador.
The lawmaker said his people deserve to equally enjoy the opportunities other people in other districts are enjoying from government.
He said, however, the people of Falaba are suffering a lot.
Hon Saa Emerson Lamina from Kono district called for capacity building, adding that SLBC’s new director general should change the narrative from AYV “Na Ihn Salone Sabi” to SLBC “Na Ihn Salone Sabi.”
He urged the new boss to work closely with the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC).
Hon Lamina said as MP they demand for local dialect programmes at SLBC to be highly reflected on the state broadcaster’s channels.
