The West Area Football Association (WAFA) has, in a press release, issued a ban on all active Sierra Leone Premier League players from participating in community leagues in the municipality of Freetown.
The Association made this notice to all affiliated members and mini-league organizers under the Western Area Football Association to honour this ban with immediate effect.
“All Premier League players are banned from participating/playing in any community league or mini leagues competitions,” the notice reads.
There have been several disappointments coming from fans and stakeholders of the Sierra Leone Premier League about the levity players took to participate in those competitions.
They see such acts as “risks to players to be jeopardizing their careers thereby limiting their names and their teams,” according to WAFA.
However, they are calling for public support in order to track players who may fail to comply with the policies, warning them that they must adhere to the above directive or else strict measures will be taken against any defaulter.
