Many Sierra Leoneans were of late curious to know the financier of the most touted peace dialogue between the ruling SLPP and the main opposition party the APC.
This u-turn emanated from their high hope that the visitors will bring something new to what brought the stalemate between them after the June 24th General elections but all ended up in nothingness. Their hopes were shattered and totally backslide.
Thank God they have now realized that the so called international dialogue bodies only came to eat plenty the money that they brought in the name of financing the dialogue process, talk plenty, and full their bellies with sugar water, hard Gin, enjoy big and empty their bowels plenty in this country. Majority of our citizens especially the APC party supporters were expecting either the team to tell the public that the APC won the past elections but they were cheated for which there was need for power sharing, a rerun of elections or any other fovourable conditions that will appease them. But other school of thought is still creating doubt in the minds of other citizens on the issues of fund of the peace dialogue on the proviso that the bodies were invited by our government which invariably means that we take care of them.
Nevertheless, if the money came from our meager coffer, surely the scar will remain indelible on our shrinking economy for long. In fact, the peace dialogue has clearly portrayed that we are still greatly subservient to our colonial masters. What they would have better done for us was to call both parties to this belated dialogue immediately the feud started so that both would have come to understanding themselves.
Now that it has come to where we were before the elections and immediately after, APC should realize that they need to depend on their people’s support rather than international to gain power. Yet, we hope that USA will now drop the MCC package including all other monies from other quarters for Sierra Leone in our national coffer as they initially predicated on the peace between the APC and SLPP.
