Bra Parrot did not study history, but he understands what history is all about, history talked about the past.
Those who studied history say history is important when it has bearing with the present; that is more the reason people in higher quarters should take time as to how to talk especially in public places.
It could be recalled that, not too long ago, two most senior personalities in the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) have said the same thing in different quarters and that is on record, and their statements always ring a bell whenever people think of them.
Bra Parrot could vividly remember that, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio was quoted as saying when he was addressing party supporters in Bo city, that he would never hand-over power to the main opposition, All People’s Congress (APC) party and that, the said party is not good for this country, he had said.
The statement at the time did not go down well with people even with his own party members and supporters but there was no alternative for them at the time.
That statement was very unfortunate as people say.
Not too long ago, another member of the same party who is no less a person than the Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) was also quoted as saying they would never hand-over power to the APC, as they [APC] are mad people.
Bra Parrot is of the view that statements of those kinds have a very long lasting implication, whenever it rings into people’s mind. People always have different feeling about those who made those statements.
That is more the reason big-men in position should talk like big-men, children talk like children especially in public places.
As the saying goes, power corrupts but absolute power corrupts absolutely, meaning the two big-men are power drunkard.
The wise bird did not even understand why the President said so when power was handed over to him by someone.
The wise bird sees all of those statements as unfortunate to have come from statesmen. If the two big-men want to please their party members or supporters there are a lot of other words to use to make party members happy.
The problem the wise bird has with some big-men in the Sierra Leone people’s party (SLPP) is that, they are not diplomatic in their words; they don’t have what is referred to as word economy.
Whenever some of them open their mouths to talk they worsen the situation to the annoyance of other people.
The wise bird contacted very senior people on the political limelight on all the statements made by the two big-men.
One senior political analyst out rightly condemned the act by the two big-men. He said it might be just a slip of tongue.
The wise bird is advising all those in authority to take time as to how to talk in public places.
