The 2018 Presidential flag bearer for the Coalition for Change Party (C4C) and former sacked Vice President Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana is currently missing in action as all efforts to rejoin his former party the All People’s Congress where his membership was declared null and void have proven fruitless.
Former sacked Vice President has been seen by members and supporters of the APC party as the catalyst fuelling the flame of confusion between and among members of the party. He is seen as a strong backup to the Alfred Peter Conteh’s camp splashing huge sum of local and foreign currencies in making sure that his membership is reinstated in the party as he is eyeing the flag bearer position ahead of the 2023 Presidential polls.
The former Chairman and Leader of the C4C party with eight seat in the well of Parliament is full of enthusiasm and optimism that with Alfred Peter Conteh as the Interim Executive Chairman of the ITGC he will surely be reinstated as a member of the main opposition party and therefore eyeing the possibility of becoming the next standard bearer of the All People’s Congress much to the surprise of his contenders if only Dr. Samura Kamara is found guilty of corruption.
According to inside sources Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana is now disappointed over the recent judgment against his subject Alfred Peter Conteh who committed contempt of court for reinstating the membership of Chief Samuel Sam Sumana in which Justice Adrian Fischer quashed his decision and demanded that the ITGC Chairman pay a fine of Le 50 million or stand the chance of being imprison for 30 days.
During his ruling last year on 23rd November 2022 the High Court Judge squashed the decision of Alfred Peter Conteh to bring in Chief Sam Sumana to join in the flag bearer race in the APC. Justice Adrian Fischer ruled that those who have lost their membership or expelled from the party are to be reinstated during the party’s forthcoming National Delegate Conference and therefore Alfred Peter Conteh acted beyond his powers to reinstate the sacked former Vice President, adding that the ITGC Chairman is not a member of the National Advisory Council to take such decision of resolving membership issue in the party.
Confirmed sources have disclosed that Chief Alhaji Sam Sumana is still fanning unrest in the APC by planning to plunder more cash in the hands of Alfred Peter Conteh ahead of the party convention to pave a smooth path for his reinstatement in the APC.
However the reinstatement of Chief Samuel Sam Sumana’s membership is still pending as numerous party stakeholders are frowning at his call as he is seen a traitor who made the party to lose the 2018 Presidential run-off polls due to swing voting in Kono.
It has been alleged by inside sources within the party that Chief Sam Sumana is responsible for the disorganized state of the APC spanning a lengthy period of one year and three month by sponsoring Alfred Peter Conteh with huge sum of money to take the outgone Executive of the party to court thereby causing a sharp division in the party.
According to loyal members and supporters of the party the delay in the court proceedings has rendered their party hopeless ahead of the June 24th 2023 multitier election as their house is still shambolic four months ahead of the polls the strong main opposition party is still struggling with both leadership and flag bearer crisis.
The former sacked Vice President has been described by many as a wolf in sheep clothing who has been afraid to come out plainly and made known his ambition to contest for the flag bearer race despite his membership status has not been declared upon by a delegate conference.
