It is unbelievable that poverty and hardship are the order of day in Sierra Leone. Magic Center Charitable Foundation (MCCF) at Robert Street, Kosso Town has over the weekend donated educational stuffs worth million of Leones.
Books, sweater, notebooks, pens, pencils, stationery to more than fifty underprivileged poor pupils in a bid to ease their educational crisis throughout the 2023/24 academic year.
According to the Head of Media and Marketing of Magic Center, Mohamed Magic Bangura confirmed to Africa24 that this year’s project will focus on youth empowerment and kids support, adding that the foundation is a non-profit organization and is registered.
“This project will help the marginalized children to get better opportunities to be educated and to contribute in the development of society. Magic Center Charitable Foundation was set up in order to provide educational materials for poor pupils between the ages of 5-14 years who lack access to adequate school materials in the Western Area Rural District and beyond.
The donation captured four communities in the Western Rural districts, namely, Grafton War Wounded Camps, CRS Waterloo and Songo village.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, the National Coordinator, Mohamed Lyrics Bangura told the press and beneficiaries that, MCCF has decided to help the children to improve and develop their skills by providing educational necessities.
Nothing that, the scheme will give the pupils good opportunity to be self independent and own their communities in the future. Lyrics Bangura further revealed that they have being doing such gesture over years to countless communities, supporting deprived and poor children to alleviate financial pressure ” Many public schools struggle to acquire necessary state funding, teachers often financial assist from their own pockets to maintain a full functional classrooms and meet all their pupils’ needs.
Families have been facing financial challenges with the to provide proper school equipments unsuccesfully, these donations will ensure that everyone in the classroom is equipped with the fundamental tools to thrive in school” he commented.
However, the Chairlady of Songo village, Isata Kamara said children between the ages of 6-14 years leave school every academic season because these pupils face all sorts of problems to get good education.
Due to the pathetic conditions of deprived families, and their guardians cannot afford their schooling system. She said the distribution of educational stuffs to 12 underprivileged schools pupils in four communities will aid them to get equal opportunities for education.
The project will help the poor pupils to be conscious towards education which will reduce the problem of school drop-outs to some extent. She appealed to the management of Magic Center Charitable Foundation to do more for the needy at Songo village and beyond because education is the only way to success.
The distribution of school materials in these communities was timely,Hawanatu Dumbuya, a beneficiary expressed appreciation to MCCF for their fabulous efforts towards them. She said the support is a welcome achievement for their educational careers as future leaders.
