Bra Parrot loves Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans as well, but some people pretend to have love for the country but it is all fake love for the country.
The brave bird is of the view that, the word love comes from the heart and not just by word of mouth and this is the reason the brave bird has little or no respect for some people in the circle of civil society.
In Sierra Leone today, there are a lot of civil societies all in the name of making money(s) for themselves and families.
The one million dollar question the brave bird is asking is that, are all these organizations called civil society working according to the mandate given to them?
Bra Parrot will not even hesitate to say it is a big NO, as about 99% of civil societies in Sierra Leone today are operatives of the sitting government instead of the people they claimed to be representing.
It is very much unfortunate to see a member of a civil society while on radio taking sides by way of supporting the government instead of talking for the people.
Civil societies in every country are the mouth-piece of the people, (the brave bird stands to be corrected).
The function(s) of every civil society in a country is to put a sitting government on its toes, so that accountability, transparency and the rule of law prevail, but not in Sierra Leone, where civil societies are in support of a sitting government against the people.
Bra Parrot was and still very much disappointed to have seen a member of a civil society at Eastern police round-about openly supporting the government against the people.
A good number of members of these so-called civil societies have taken jobs from the government of late. You cannot bite the finger that feeds you.
The thing was that some of them were sacked before the sun sets for gross misbehavior, “God nor dae truss but e-dae pay”.
Bra Parrot is not at all comfortable with some members of these civil societies in the country, although it is a right for everybody to belong, but not at the detriment of the State.
Bra Parrot is of the view that everybody is free or has the right to belong to a political party(s) but one should not hide under the umbrella of a civil society.
This has been the reason the brave bird holds the view that civil society in Sierra Leone is a disgrace in totality to humanity. Bra Parrot was fortunate to visit one of the offices in the country where the brave bird met a one time member of a civil society as Director, so plus and minus the said Director was and still a member of the party in power.
The same goes to some Journalists, some of them are operatives of the system.
God save Salone!
