Our political leaders we believe are chosen by God to man the affairs of this beautiful world, have today become more ferocious than the wildest beast in the jungle and have subjected us to the most outrageous treatment that God never had in mind for us as his people.
If God knew these politicians have the tendency to treat us as slaves God will not have brought them into this beautiful world.
During the 24 years of APC rule in this country, it seemed as if our nation was built and plastered with corruption of all kinds. The corruption of APC in 24 years and that of the SLPP in just 5 years plus if the two corruptions are put on a scale, God alone knows what will be the result.
The direct result of this situation is that, those that are poor have been made to permanently stay poor, always hanging on the hope that, things would change for the better one day.
The plight of Sierra Leonean today is that, those in authority have no care, sympathy or even concern for the under privileged, instead they concentrate on improving their own status and that of their relatives.
This is not only done at the expense of the average Sierra Leonean, but also at the expense of national development.
In 1992, the Military saw a golden opportunity to boot out those corrupt politicians that made things very difficult for Sierra Leoneans; they were forced out of power.
Today the same politicians have resurfaced again in another form under what they called the New Direction as we can see.
As it is no secret that the expectations of the people were very high, one would have expected that, they were elected to correct the lapses of the APC but, to the dismay of many Sierra Leoneans the SLPP did the worst when they came to power.
It is time for Sierra Leoneans to forgive those that have offended them, in this trend, we should not only forgive but also to forget as well, it is no secret that politicians have in one way or another offended a lot of people. The only means left at our disposal is to forgive one another for a better Sierra Leone.
If, and only if Sierra Leoneans want democracy to take its proper footing, we should put aside tribalism, sectionalism, hatred, vengeance and boot-licking.
We should not allow our woes to continue increasing and our blessings misused, otherwise, some people will conclude that Sierra Leoneans have no redemption and have failed to regain those blessings showered on us by the benevolent hands of the Father.
As elections are approaching, we as a people must keep on praying for God’s intervention to avert bloodshed in our nation.
God bless Sierra Leone!
