The Minister of Technical and Higher Education has signed a contractual agreement with Aakar Abhinav Consultants Pvt. Ltd., a renowned Indian company contracted for the construction of Kono University of Science and Technology.
Important personalities from the local government, parliament, the media and the educational sector itself, underscore the leadership vision for education. As well as the leadership commitment in promoting the Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics field of education.
Dr. Ramatulai Wurie , thought of the occasion to be an ambitious one that resonates with the president campaign promises during the electioneering period.’’ She expressed her happiness to witness the signing of the contract that marks the realization of his promise, ’she said. She underscored the importance of the project that has the power to bring unity and collaboration; she continued that, this is not only about structuring a campus but also about creating the linkage for human capital development especially the transfer of knowledge for young girls to unleash their potential.
She recognized the impact higher education institutions impact on the destiny of the citizens. She furthered that Kono University has a vital role to play, and also entreated that The University will offer some discipline that aligns with STEAM, which will serve as the foundation stone of progress that bridge the gap between class room knowledge and applicable form of knowledge.
She said’’ the University is willing to offer world class program to equip our graduates with the 21st century skills that they need to tackle this challenges,’’ she stated. She went further to say that, the team of consultants chosen shared their passion, values and determination to achieve excellence in every aspects of their knowledge.
The Associate Vice President of the construction company Mr. Kaustubh Kurlekar, assured the people of Kono District and Sierra Leonean at large that, the project would be completed within the time frame, continued that with their knowledge in consultancy services, they would construct the University to serve as a symbol of ambitious hope for Sierra Leonean.
The Chancellor of the University, Nyawo Matturi Jones, said the need for linkage between the University authorities, consultants, the Ministry and the entire citizens of the country, saying that’’ the University will be owned by everyone without leaving anyone behind’’, she noted. She gave her commitment to collaborate with the ministry until the end of the project.
