Leone Stars caretaker head Coach, Amidu Karim has named 24 man squad in their upcoming FIFA world 2026 qualifiers against Ethiopia and Egypt respectively.
Speaking to football lovers’ across the country, he told A24 Sports that the selection of oversea players is an age ‘slogan’ in Leone Stars campaigns over the years. He added that his coaching staff and team are in high spirit as foreign players are also expected to join the team from aboard though majority are not up to the task based on their physical performance.
However, 90% of football pundits at home and aboard are seriously in doubt on the experience and ability of Coach Amidu Karim even though he was fortunate to grab four points from a narrow two FIFA international friendlies recently with his backroom staff.
In another development, the Ministry of Sports (MOS) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) are still pondering on the appointment of a substantive Leone Stars’ coach and other staff.
Inside sources have disclosed to this medium that NSA is unable to pay FIFA license professional coach for the job despite the contract is dully done by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).
Meanwhile, football fans are seeking for a standard and experience backroom staff, some say the local content policy must be pivotal for job creation.
