The Regional Commander for the Freetown East Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dr. John Martin Senessie has informed newsmen during the weekly police press update held yesterday at the SLP Headquarters on George Street that the Waterloo police division arrested 11 people including three women at Tombo.
He narrated that on past Sunday, the Local Unit Commander of the Waterloo responded to a tipoff and instructed the operations commander to go with his team to Tombo, adding that when the operation team materialized at the ground, they met a group of people in an unlawful gathering. He added that the people were chanting songs and inciting violence while the police tried to disperse them.
ACP Dr. John Martin Senessie said the gathering was unlawful because they were not having any police clearance and that they were arrested and brought to the Waterloo police station for investigation, adding that all 11 suspects arrested have been charged to court for unlawful gathering, incitement and public nuisance according to the 1965 Public Order Act.
