As the wooden footpath in parliament becomes dangerous, MPs and visitors will be victims in the coming months.
The broken footpath bridge leading to the Administrative Building which authorities in parliament are using is now a death trap.
It is the only route in the Well of parliament connecting the well and the administrative building. Almost everyday MPs are using the way without fixing up the footpath.
Journalists who often use the path have also expressed dismay over the neglect by the admin staff.
The wooden footpath bridge was constructed by UNOPS company between 2021 and 2013.
UNOPS wooden footpath was rendered as a sham rehabilitation in Parliament.
Some MPs and visitors were inspired by the 3 million Euros spent to rehabilitate Parliament’s building but which is still experiencing leakages.
The rehabilitation is considered as trademark as it did not meet international standards.
Visitors said UNOPS should have used the funds for constructing offices for Members of Parliament rather than wasting people’s money on the building.
Others said Parliament’s building is now at risk than any other time due to the sham rehabilitation done on it.
As part of the way to worsen the situation, Parliament has placed a notice which reads “Caution! slippery wooden road” and many have perceived the poor road as neglect and lackadaisical attitude shown by workers of the administration of parlaiment.
Many visitors are still waiting to hear from Parliament whether UNOPS’ rehabilitation of Parliament resonates with the contract documents.
