There is a newly released song done by one of our upcoming Sierra Leonean musician called Super Maxx which he titled “Pa Demore”.
The song propels into the economic, social and political atmosphere of the country dating since the inception of the New Direction administration headed by the incumbent President Rtd. Brig. Dr. Julius Maada Bio whom many have criticized for not moving the country’s economy to the right direction.
The song is preaching about the trending economic crisis which is nothing good to write home about as every Sierra Leonean is running helter-skelter to make ends meet for their basic livelihood. The song projects the downtrodden economic hardship realities as a stagnant suffering of the masses and if only things continue in this way then Sierra Leoneans should be worried.
“The economy sorry oh,” the song implored the Presidency to take the economy serious because according to the song, there is an everyday upsurge of prices of basic food stuffs and social services.
The song stated that “every day we sleep na dry gron,” meaning most of the people you see roaming the streets of Freetown do not have fixed abode after the day’s struggle and they prefer to sleep on card board beds in front of shops entrance and in market places. The majority of the homeless people are dossers who can sleep anywhere with no regret of fear because the system has made to be wanderers in their homeland.
In the other line the song stated “tin nor dea for eat,” there is a challenging struggle for the day’s survival in many homes as majority of school children in those homes go to school with empty tummies as most parents cannot afford lunch for their kids as per the current economic realities on the ground.
Another fascinating line in the song is where the talented Artist made mention that “You dea get bodi, we dey pan mori,” with this the man is drawing the attention of the general citizenry that those they elected to represent them are growing rich and getting fat day by day with protruding stomachs while they that voted for them are malnourish with emaciated bones and deprived of their basic rights.
The song goes on to state that those in power are carting away with state resources to the Whiteman’s land to oil their economy and leaving the bulk of the masses in abject poverty. Most of these politicians have Estate houses in the Whiteman’s land which they stand to forfeit.
The song which is precise and apt delved into the social, political and economic condition of the suffering masses that the Artist through his song is advocating and pleading with the President to be meticulous and conscious when expending state wealth because he will have to give account for all his expenses when power changes guard.
