Detective Inspector Joshua Fritzlnun Moisa attached to criminal investigation department headquarters during the weekly police media update on Tuesday 18th April, 2023 at the police headquarters on George Street has told pressmen that they have released all thirty-one suspects that were arrested in Makeni, Station road for the killing of ASP Mathew Moiwah Gbanya who until his death was the OSD regional commander for the north.
According to Detective Inspector Moisa, they did a random arrest during the execution of their duty to bring the perpetrators to book, adding that they have screened all thirty-one suspects and have not been able to gather sufficient evidence from the 31 people apprehended in Makeni.
He said they are still carrying on with investigation to know the actual murder of ASP Gbanya, adding that the latter was shot five times in a short range inside his private vehicle at Station road Makeni when he and one of his security officers went to buy a fan and some water.
He said ASP Gbanya had spent the Easter holidays with his family that visited him in Makeni before meeting his tragic demise.
The Director of Human Resource for the police, AIG Patrick Johnson, has informed that the remains of the late policeman will be interred on this Thursday at the police training school.
