Since political violence and intimidation seem to be a root cause for Africa’s political insecurity, the Local Unit Commander Chief Superintendent of Police Fatmata Susan Kamara of the Masiaka division, her able Assistant Inspector General of Police Moses Francis Tower and others stakeholders within Masiaka and his environs on Saturday 8th April 2023 held a security stakeholder meeting at the masiaka community center that attracted mammoth gathering.
In his remarks, the Chairman who doubles as the Chairman for the local policing partnership board chairman Mr. Kabba Kargbo commonly called Super underscores that the meeting is timely since elections is around the corner. However, we in Koya always has a clean record of peaceful co- existence in terms of elections and in that direction let us continue in that drive for peace, APC, SLPP and all other party members should have a co-existence they should not see them self as enemies but brothers and sisters.
We in the local policing partnership board and police hierarchy decided to target the Chiefs because you have your people and thousands of them listen to you, you have to cascade the information to them that election is not a do or die business but having people who can help to bring development to you the people.
Mr. Kargbo further told the mammoth gathering that this is the time we in the LPPB and the police has to show case what we have done.
He lauded heap of praises on the local unit commander CSP Fatmata Susan Kamara saying she is a woman of dedication and always want to see results, you can see the police in the day and night patrol all over in Masiaka and its environs, which simply show the leadership is at work and the LUC is the rock in Masiaka.
Chief Pa Alimamy computer Kanu who represented Paramount Chief Bai Kompra Bomboli the third (3) of Masiaka said Koya has 19 sections with 366 villages which means we as chiefs has huge amount of population to talk to.
We are not going to leave the job only to the police if we do we will not be helping ourselves.
The local unit commander CSP Fatmata Kamara and AIG FM Tower, he said has shown leadership quality, adding that, we the stakeholders have seen a robust operational officer Deputy Superintendent Daniel Sovula on a high gear adding that we cannot hear of house or shop breaking for time now and we hope for this trend to continue. Koya, he said has received laurels for the most peaceful chiefdom in terms of election and promise that this time around, Koya will receive the same accolades.
He however appealed for a police station to be erected at the Magbele section since it is a river line area where many criminals used as a safe haven having committed crimes.
Giving an overview of the Masiaka division, Chief Superintendent Fatmata Susan Kamara said she is delighted working with Chiefs in the Koya. She thanked the Inspector General of police Mr. William Fayia Sellu under whose administration she has become a local unit commander and equally to the Assistant Inspector General of police who has been supportive to him as she cannot work alone without a team, her success is all about team work.
The local policing partnership board chairman Mr. Abdul Kabba Kargbo has been very supportive in given face lift to the Mile38 police station, the Masiaka police station toilet which has been in a dilapidated condition is now well constructed.
The local unit commander quarter has also got a face lift and all this development she said has been done with the true support of local policing partnership board chairman Mr. Abdulai Kabba Kargbo and other well-wishers, he has and still continues to be supportive to the police.
The police cells that she meets with bad and offensive odor has been put under control and now become a thing of the past.
LUC Kamara also thanked the Motorbike Chairman Mr. Osman whom she said is always ready to help the police whenever he is been called upon. CSP Kamara landed heap of praises on her female counterpart DSP Gbassay Fofanah, Commander at the Mile 38 police station saying she has been very much supportive.
What now remains is the beautification of the Masiaka police station tiling project which she said she has already launched adding the LPPB Chairman Mr. Kargbo, in his given spirit has already donated 10 million leones cash to the project.
CSP Kamara however maintained that police work in community policing strategy which is the modern policing practice all over the world that is why she works with all state authorities including the task coordinating group (TCG) in her division to ensure better policing.
Masiaka, she said is peaceful and will continue to be peaceful since we as people and community are together for the betterment of Masiaka and its environment.
She said her AIG, F.M Tower is a man who likes innovation and always help her with ideas and directives and on that note his ideas and with community support will surely continue to stay in Koya.
In his brief advice, AIG F.M Tower told the gathering that the Inspector General and the entire Executive Management Board appreciated the people of Koya, teeth and tongue must meet but at the end they still work together.
You the people you are the police, we the police only provide you with security. Police are small in number you the people are in the majority.
Do not sit down and allow bad things to happen while waiting for the police you the people also has five powers of arrest while the police have six powers you can arrest and hand over to police.
The police respect you all we will continue to work as a team for the betterment of Sierra Leone let no one lead you to violence on, before, during, and after elections when you see problem try to stop it from happening. All of us should be watch man for one another.
Representatives from political parties, bike riders union, Sierra Leone teachers union (SLTU), traders association, interreligious council all made meaningful contributions.
