It appears the red light of refusal is gradually giving way to the green light of acceptance as Sierra Leone main opposition party, the All People’s Congress will be sitting face to face with the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party since it lost the June 24th presidential election to the latter in what it refers to as “controversial” manner.
APC’s insistent call for international community’s intervention to investigate the outcome of the elections has finally yielded dividends with the arrival of delegations from the regional bloc ECOWAS, the European Union and the Commonwealth, etc.
The teams are expected to start preliminary work today Friday with the engagement of the ruling SLPP and then the APC tomorrow Saturday before the start of the much heralded and awaited dialogue proper on Monday October 16th at Bintunmani Hotel in Freetown.
The All People’s Congress has insisted that it won the election but was robbed of the victory by the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone which declared President Maada Bio as winner but the opposition has since remained defiant to take part in any governance activity which apparently has impacted on the proper functioning of the government.
Although the outcome of the dialogue is unpredictable, it’s however expected that it will be a win-win situation for both parties in the interest of the nation.
