The Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion, Hawa Samai, has given a total support to the commission by regarding its efforts in building bridges of peace in Sierra Leone. She made this colorful statement during the briefing organized by the Minister of Information on 5th September, 2023.

In her pronouncement, she said the commission is responsible for peace and development of the country. She continued that their effort in the election was openly seen by everybody in the country and that was done through their engagement with the two major political parties at Bintumani.

Madam Hawa Samai also added that they advised the incumbent to always dialogue with the opposition since they are the ruling and trying to engage with the opposition, they were highly welcome by the leadership of the opposition.

She further affirmed that the hierarchy of the main  opposition party didn’t have problem with the incumbent government and  few days after that they went to State House to discuss with the president to tell him how the APC are ready to mediate but only if the foreign or international bodies to lead them.

She disclosed that the positive statement of the opposition urged the president to release press statement in other to enable him meet to the demand of the opposition and also immediately contact ECOWAS, COMMON WEALTH, and EU and his waiting for them to come, and they as a commission have developed methodology to wait on the foreign people that will come to mediate with the two people.
