In a bid to create effective gender equality in soccer in the country, the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima over the weekend, witnessed the long awaited female football grand final organized by the Sierra Leonean female football legend, Musu ‘Pele’ Bangura.
FC Kallon engaged Ascensiontonians FC at the Police Field, Kingtom and the kickoff was done by the Minister of Sports herself.
FC Kallon trashed their opponents by 5-1 and were crowned Champions for the first edition.
Trophy, gold and silver medals plus cash were distributed to the winners and runner-up.
Madam Minister expressed appreciation to Musu Pele Bangura and Co. for organizing the league, which started in a peaceful atmosphere and ended successfully.
“I hope other female football veterans would follow your footsteps. I am impressed with your performance guys especially the two teams though football is either win, draw, or lose,” she said.
Madam Minister appealed to them to try to and reach schools and the regions where said the talents and raw materials are available.
She said she was particularly pleased with the performance of the two teams and the officiating officials for making the grand finale a successful and financial support were given to the various award winners in grandstyle.
Meanwhile, the Technical Director of SLFA Ibrahim Bah, John Disa, Gbana Loko, and others also expressed delight for the wonderful performance of both teams.
