Twenty-five-years-old, Mohamed Lamin Conteh, a contractor and thirty-two years old Osman Jalloh, a businessman, have made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown.
They stood on two count charges ranging from unlawful possession of Kush contrary to section 8 (a) of the national drugs control Act 2008, No.10 of 2008.
According to the particulars of offence on Friday 3rd May 2024 at Funkia Goderich the Western Area in Freetown, the first accused person was found in possession of seventy (70) wraps of kush weighing 30.5 grams without lawful authority.
Count two further stated that the second accused person on the above date and place was found in possession of one (100) hundred wraps of Kush weighing 40.5 grams without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea taken and the prosecutor Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy sought for a short adjournment date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Counsel representing the accused person A.M.Y Kamoka applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused persons that they’re Sierra Leonean residents within this jurisdiction that the have reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognisance on their behalf.
They will, they said, not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will they jump baila and application was made as pursuant to section 79 2 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused persons to the male Correctional facility in Freetown based on the seriousness of the allegation and the matter was adjourned to the 10th June 2024.
