Sierra Leone will be placed together with 11 other nations in Pot 3 for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in the group stage draw.
Conversely, the strewing might not be based on the most recent April 2024 FIFA World Rankings, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The draw will see all 48 participating countries being divided into four Pots of 12 teams each, with the final seeding potentially deviating from the FIFA rankings.
Initially slated for January-February 2025, AFCON 2025 is now expected to be held in the summer months. CAF has agreed in principle to host the tournament in July-August 2025 in Morocco to avoid clashing with the first-ever 32 teams in the Club World Cup scheduled for June 2025.
While CAF President Patrice Motsepe hasn’t confirmed the exact dates, an official from the competition committee has reportedly told RFI that, “an agreement in principle” exists with the Moroccan Football Federation to host the AFCON during summer, specifically in July and August 2025.
