The Ministry of Information and Civic Education will hold a town hall meeting next Tuesday 2nd April 2024) at the Freetown International conference center – Bintumani on the KUSH crisis in Sierra Leone.
According to the Minister of Information and Civic Education Mr. Chernor Bah, the objective of the town hall meeting is to update citizens on government’s position on the issue of Kush and to further enhance collaboration with citizens and other partners in the fight against drug addiction and abuse among the youths in the country.
It is also aimed at increasing awareness and knowledge of the potential health, social and legal consequences of illicit drug use, he added. Minister Bah maintained that the misuse of drugs and alcohol affects every stratum in our society which, if not put under control, has the tendency to undermine our peace, stability, and socioeconomic development. It can also affect our nation’s social and human capital, education, health and well-being of our citizens.
The town hall meeting is expected to attract Government Ministers, Heads of Government MDAs, Members of the Diplomatic and Consolar Corps, The Forces, CSOs, Members of parliament, Media, Donor Partners, etc who will make valuable contributions in this town hall meeting.
