Members of the Approved School Ex-Players Association, ASEA, have organized a well-attend Dinner and Dance at the prestigious CHANGES Entertainment Complex at Grass field, Wellington in Freetown.
The programme which was attended by a good number of distinguished personalities including Members of Parliament, Sports Clubs and Promoters was hosted by the football association, primarily to raise funds that would enable them raise more funds that would enhance development programmes and improve the welfare of members.
The programme which had as its theme, “Why Ex-Players for Suffer “was attended by a good number of distinguished personalities including Members of Parliament, Sports Clubs and Promoters in the country.
Welcoming guests to the occasion, the President of the association, Mohamed Mansaray a. k. a. Mat Cole, thanked them for honouring their invitation.
Giving a brief background about the association, Mr. Mansaray said the association was founded on 20th February, 2014 by a group of well-meaning Sierra Leoneans who played football at the then Approved School Recreational Grounds at Wellington with the objectives of seeking the welfare of members and fostering of peace and unity among them as well as promoting the game of football in the country.
The programme he said, was organized primarily to raise more funds that would enable them cater for the welfare of members and undertake development programmes in the country.
While introducing members of the association, he craved the indulgence of guests to observe a minute silence for pioneers and fallen soccer heroes of the association He appreciated the efforts of members both at home and abroad in ensuring that the association realized it aims and objectives and assured his audience that ASEA will continue to undertake development programmes that will have positive impacts on the country.
Member of Parliament, Hon. Mariana Bangura who declared the programme opened, commended members of ASEA for coming together to promote not only sport but unity, peace and development among them. She hoped the trend will continue and pledged her continued support to the association.
Goodwill messages, felicitations and pledges were also made by other distinguished guests in support of the association’s fund raising drive.
The programme ended with dancing, powered by the Afro National Dance Band with other side shows.
