SALAM Makes History In an exclusive interview in his office on Monday 9th Oct 2023, the Principle of SSS Mr. Alimamy Conteh popularly call [AC] disclosed to this press that this is the first time in the history Salam International Secondary School at Kossoh Town in the Western Area Rural District to attain such a very excellent results in the West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Exams (WASSCE) which has been published by the Exams Council.
He furthered that out of 754 candidates that the school sent for the exams, 744 took the exams and 635 got college and university requirements out of which Edward Moody got 4As in various subjects including Further Maths, General Maths, Biology and Science core as well as B2, in Economic, B3 in Chemistry, B3 in Agric Science, C5 in Physics and C5 in English Language.
Mr. Conteh also added that they nursed their candidates from the cradle spanning from Junior to SSS3 which loaded them well with best materials to tackle any international exams specifically the [WAEC] and described Moody as an academic material who has the wit to defend his results anywhere at any time.
The Principal also maintained that the school got about 85% passes and the secret behind their success was dedication, compassion, concerted efforts, motivation coupled with sacrifice from all and sundry especially the teachers who are always ready to impart the correct knowledge into the pupils at all time. He admonished others to believe in the Free Quality Education and thoroughly make good use of it by orientating those who have not still understood the concept of this golden opportunity at our doors for the benefit of our future leaders.
In his contributions, Mr. Abdulai Kamara Principal of Junior Secondary School also added that they are always grateful to their Mission Direct Aid for building the school for Sierra Leoneans out of which it has over the years produced Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers and all other class of educated personalities, adding that some products of the school after going through college education have come to serve the school as teachers. He added that the chairman of the Board Alhaji Sallieu Bangura is a man of astute leadership quality that recommended them for the job which emanated from the trust that he has in youth leadership especially those that are competent. Similar praises were also showered on their predecessor Mr. D.S Turay former principal of JSS for grooming them well. Both the principals assured the public that they will continue the good job for the good name of the school, the Mission and the country in general, adding that the school is an Islamic school that abhor and totally damned cheating in any form, more so in exam malpractices. “We believe in hard work and collective services to deliver to our pupils and we are proud of them in all aspect,” they stated.
