Bra Parrot was going through the Auditor General’s Report on the Account of Sierra Leone.

The brave bird was quick to notice certain anomalies on the report. The eyes of Bra Parrot quickly went to the report on GUMA VALLEY Water Company. According to the report of the Auditor-General, 36 personnel were recruited without reference letters, no academic certificates/qualification, no police clearance and no confirmation letters.

The question Bra Parrot asked, how were they employed in the first place? What comes to mind is that, all those employed are part of the present system.

Secondly, Bra Parrot also noticed that, two staffs were paid combined monthly salaries which amounted to Le 72, 984, 167, 36, even though they had exceeded the retirement age of 60 years.

Bra Parrot also noticed wrong procurement of catering services for schools management committee under the Sierra Leone Free Education Project (SLFEP).

Bra Parrot will continue to make a follow-up on the issue. On the same page, Bra Parrot also noticed that, the sum of Le 485,062,500 was withdrawn from the bank account and utilized without payment vouchers and relevant supporting documents.

Bra Parrot continues to turn the pages of the report and noticed that, the Ministry of Social Welfare HQ-2021 on page 140 of the report payment of Le 413,581,625 was also made without payment vouchers and supporting documents, while further payment totaling Le 2,398,327,092.25 all payment were made without adequate supporting documents.

Bra Parrot did not stop at that, the brave bird also looked at page 153, under the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and noticed that, Cheques and cash payment to staff of the Ministry and suppliers totaling Le 928,867,439 were not supported with expenditure returns such as invoices, receipts and signed list to beneficiaries.
