The Wise Bird cannot give out a clear-cut reason for the persistent power cut (black-out) in the capital Freetown and its environs.
The most respected, fearless, patriotic and uncompromising bird has been flying from east to west of the city with the aim of finding out the main reason(s) for the continuous black-out in the city.
Unfortunately, nobody was able to give a clear-cut reason(s) for the power shortage in the city.
For the wise bird to get an answer to the issue, he made several moves to see the Minister of Energy and Power Alhaji Kanja Sesay in order to get from him the true story of the ‘light system’ in the country but all to no avail.
Since the Wise Bird always wants to be current on issues at all times, that is more the reason he always listens to both National and International news on Radio, watches Television (TV) and sometimes, goes to social media to get news articles that are correct and accurate for public consumption.
What the brave bird has been seeing on social media added to the rumours around town, if they are anything to go by, then the brave bird will safely say without a hesitation that the government according to rumours or unconfirmed news on social media that, indeed government is allegedly indebted to the Karpowership the sum of US$46m that is why the city is always without light.
From that revelation, the Wise Bird also came to the conclusion that, it has been the cause why the city is in complete darkness almost all this time round.
Upon hearing this news of the US$46m that government is indebted to the Karpowership, the Wise Bird wasted no time, he went out to sound the views of Sierra Leoneans as usual and the first port of call was to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) office, the party in power, to get the views of party supporters.
And on arrival at the party, the Wise Bird spoke the tribe the guys there understand and want to hear most, a familiar tribe, everybody was very happy to receive the Wise Bird because he speaks the tribe, unknowingly to them, it was the brave bird.
However, there were mixed reactions from the supporters. Some were condemning their own party bitterly whilst others were half-way line supporting their party.
The Wise Bird flew to the Main Opposition APC party to get the views of the opposition; the supporters the Wise Bird met have little or nothing to say at all only that, some said the SLPP was criticizing and condemning the Karpowership and the Toll-gate arrangements then but today they are deeply in the same bad arrangements as they alleged, ‘so mak we lef am nor mor bra tem go tel’ they said.
The Wise Bird has also noticed of late that, all the arrangements and contracts the previous government entered into at the time which the SLPP was bitterly condemning and criticizing are the same contracts and arrangements they have also entered into now.
The Karpowership and the Toll-gate arrangements were all condemned and criticized by the SLPP while in Opposition. But today they fall for both arrangements, and one SLPP Minister was quoted as saying that the Toll-gate contract was one of the best contracts so far signed by the past regime, that is the Toll-gate they had criticized and condemned in totality at the time.
The Wise Bird is advising all politicians to stop condemning and criticizing unnecessarily whilst in opposition to gain political points; in the process of condemning and/or criticizing do it with caution, no-one knows tomorrow. Today the same mouth that was condemning and criticizing is the same mouth praising the past regime of signing a good contract.
If, the allegation of the US$46m is true to say that, government is indebted to the Karpowership, the question is where do we go from here?
