The attack on Guma Valley Water Company especially some senior staff members by certain mischievous media practitioners on various social media outlets for their alleged involvement in nefarious activities, has been described as nothing more than a war of calumny.
The unnamed GUMA Company officials have been accused to have awarded contracts to companies they, the said GUMA staff owned.
To many people, this development is no new phenomenon in Sierra Leone, as people with repute particularly those public positions are falsely accused by others to see their downfall and in most cases for no significant cause than selfish means. The unfolding scenario at GUMA is a clear manifestation.
And the stark reality is, the perpetrators (aggrieved parties) are often aided by some “insolent and unprofessional” media practitioners who allow themselves to be used by their undercover employers to destroy innocent people for “just few leones.”
If candidly the aggrieved bidders who believed that their victims at GUMA owned the companies that they awarded the contract to, they would have easily report their matter to the Anti-graft Commission (ACC) knowingly fully that such is a corrupt practice than seek redress in the media. Again, if their media helpers were not lazy or were professionals why they too didn’t contact GUMA for clarification as media ethics demand?
But because they knew they weren’t doing the correct thing than only wanting to destroy their victims hastily decided to use the media as the simplest and fastest way to falsely cry aloud to satisfy the public.
And this is exactly the main reason why the hired lazy and unprofessional mercenaries themselves because of their laziness and greed were easily lured for the few leones as they readily embarked on their nefarious campaign without the least consideration to its ramifications.
Had they considered the consequences on their reputation as credible and respected media practitioners they easily would have ignored the services of their heartless under covered employers and show them the right channel to use to seek redress.
The negative attitude of pull him down (PHD) syndrome must stop if we want to see or live in a better Sierra Leone we all are yearning for.
