Abu Kargbo, a Police Labourer attached to the Hastings Police Training School on Tuesday February 21st , 2023 made his maiden appearance before Principal Magistrate Mark N’gegba of Magistrate Court No.1 on Pademba Road, Freetown, for wounding, theft and assaulting Police Recruit, Ansumana Samuka with number 21362.
The accused Abu Kargbo is charged with 5 counts ranging from wounding with intent contrary to Section 18 of the offences against the Person Act 1861, wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offences against the Person Act 1861, larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to Section 47 of the offences against the Person Act 1861 and carrying offensive weapon without lawful authority or reasonable excuse contrary to Section 16 (1) of the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
According to the statement of offence, on count one, the accused Abu Kargbo on Sunday 12th February, 2023 at the Hastings Police Training School Freetown, wounded Ansumana Samuka with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Count 2 states that the accused on the same date and place maliciously wounded Ansumana Samuka.
On count 3, the accused on the same date and place did steal one full banana head valued at NLe150 (One Hundred and Fifty new Leones) being sole property of the Sierra Leone Police while on count 4 the accused on the same date and place assaulted Ansumana Samuka in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
And count 5 states that the accused on the same date and place was found carrying offensive weapons in a public place with cutlass and two silver forceps without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
No bail granted was granted and the accused remanded until the 24th February, 2023.
