The Sierra Leone Police have on the 10th April 2018 puts twenty million leones (Le20M) for anyone who will identify Alhassan Bangura of Makolo Village.
Alhassan has been declared wanted by the police after he failed to respond to police invitation.
Addressing a news conference at Police Headquarters on the 15th April 2018, the Second in command at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), at the Masiaka Police Division, Superintendent Fodsy Tarawalie said Alhassan is being investigated for alleged homosexual and gay related activities in his home, contrary to the laws governing the country. He said Alhassan was invited for questioning in relation to the allegations levied against him by some religious leaders and youths of the community but he refused to respond. This he said prompted the leadership of the Force to issue bench warrant for him and puts a ransom of twenty million leones for anybody who will lead to the arrest of Alhassan Bangura and his friend Sorie.
Superintendent Tarawalie said Alhassan has been practicing homosexual since he was thirteenth years old with his male friend Sorie, who according to investigation are also attending the same school in the Village. He said despite several warnings by his parents especially his father Pa Mohamed Bangura, Alhassan went ahead to practice homosexual in the community. He said his father took a wife named Adama Turay for his son with the view to divert Alhassan’s focus from Sorie but all went fuitile. He called on stakeholders including traditional leaders, Youth and Women’s Groups to help the police to identify where Alhassan is residing so that he can face Justice.
Meanwhile report states that irate youths have on several occasions decended at Alhassan’s home with the view to lynch him for allegedly practicing homosexual which is forbidden in Sierra Leone. Family sources say because of the series of death threats that Alhassan is facing from different quarters, he went underground and since then his whereabout remains unknown. His Uncle Mr. Musa Bangura has expressed serious concern about Alhassan’s safety.
