Thirty four years old Kadie Kargbo, a business woman has been arraigned before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba Road court No.6 in Freetown on three count charges of wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, wounding contrary to Section 20 of the offences against the persons Act 1861 and Assault occassioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.
The particulars of offence state that, on Saturday 28th January, 2023 at Milton Street, Murray town, in the Western Area of Freetown maliciously wounded and assaulted Mohamed Kalil Bah in a manner thereby occassioning him actual bodily harm.
The charges were read and explained to the accused who denied taking plea.
Led in evidence by ASP Abdul Sannoh , prosecution witness number one (PW1) who is the complainant, Mohamed Kalil Bah a student of IPAM recognized the accused person in the dock and recalled on the 28th January, 2023.
He said on that day, he had the privilege to witness a carnival at Milton Street and he went to urinate when he heard someone calling him from the other side .
The complainant said he went to find out who called him and when returning he bought two bottles of drink and was about to take them when the accused came and told her that he has stepped on her drink.
The witness said he appologised and further told her that he will pay for the drink, but the accused chased him to the gutter and told him that he did not ask him to pay for the drink.
He said there they were when he suddenly felt a sharp cut under his neck.
PW1 said he crossed over the street to inform his friends but the accused had fled by then.
He said he took a cloth and tied his neck and went for treatment at the 34 Military Hospital.
Mohamed Kalil Bah said he was given nine stitches and his neck was still bleeding after he had returned home, adding that he also got seven stitches on his hand.
He said after receiving the treatment, a report was made on his behalf at the Congo Cross police station where he was later given a police medical request form.
He said he later returned the endorsed medical request form which was produced for identification.
Counsel representing the accused M. Gotta renewed his previous bail application on behalf of the accused.
Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra granted the accused bail in the sum of NLe50,000 (Fifty million old Leones) with two sureties in like sum .
He said both sureties are to produce valid identity card depicting their addresses in Freetown.
He also ordered that both sureties are to be employed in a government institution in Sierra Leone and one of the surety is to be above 50yrs and bail is to be approved by the Bench.
The matter was adjourned to 27thFebruary, 2023 for further hearing.
