Thanks to the Late President Alhaji Dr. Ahmad Tejan Kabbah for creating a lot of democratic institutions during his Presidency.
Today, Sierra Leone can boast of very vibrant democratic institutions in the Country.
These institutions are playing vital roles in the democratic process of the Country.
One among them is the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), it has surprised the whole world for exhibiting professionalism during the crisis in the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party.
In spite of all the problems in the Party at the time, and even today the PPRC tried as much as possible to avoid whatever might have brought in unrest in the Party, the PPRC did not take sides in handling party matters, if even it took sides very little, it constantly engaged the Party(s) to meetings in order to solve whatever problem(s).
One of the professional techniques they applied at the time was to give the party more time whenever they go wrong in doing things, example the lower level elections of APC, that was so controversial, they were able to manage the situation.
Today, the party is free from intimidation from other party members by way of telling them that, we as a commission will not entertain petitions any longer in the interest of peace in the Party.
Africa 24, including many other Press houses is pleased with the work of the Commission.
However, Africa24 stoutly condemned any other government institution that is bent on bring unrest in the country, the likes of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone, whose works have been surrounded with controversies since the hand-picked Chairman took office.
Africa24 will continue to look at State institutions that are to be reconciled with in terms of neutrality in performing State functions.
